National concert amazed tens of thousands of proud Vietnamese
Tens of thousands of Vietnamese across all ages and walks of life gathered
at the national concert Tổ quốc trong tim (Fatherland in our hearts)
in HCM City on August night to celebrate the upcoming National Day.

The concert was held at Vạn Phúc Residence in HCM City’s Hiệp Bình Ward, organised by Nhân Dân (People) newspaper and the HCM City People’s Committee.
Hours before the show started, lines of happy young adults were already waiting at the entrance.
The show featured lively music performances from famous artists across many generations, including meritorious artists Cao Minh and Đăng Dương, Tùng Dương, SOOBIN, Noo Phước Thịnh, Hòa Minzy and many others.
Forces from the Việt Nam People’s Army and the People’s Public Security performed military parades, reminding the youths of the heroes to fought to defend the country, as well as officers dedicated to international peacekeeping.
Lê Quốc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhân Dân newspaper, said during the opening ceremony: “Tonight, let us honour our forefathers who laid down their lives so we can be here today in peace. Let us honour Vietnamese heroic mothers who bid farewells to their sons and daughters, who had to wait for them for the rest of their lives.”
“Let us honour the soldiers safeguarding our borders and islands; the dedicated doctors and teachers in remote regions; the labourers, farmers, businessmen and scientists who are building the nation day by day.”
All eyes were peeled towards the giant V-shape stage and singers giving it their all to celebrate Việt Nam’s proud history, while lightings, fire shows, screens and other fancy technology played their part in creating a grand experience.
Throughout the show, cheers and screams echoed through night, as the red light basked the audience, many of them also wearing red, painted the Vietnamese flag on their cheeks, and waving the flags to the beat.
Meanwhile in other part of the stage, thousands of audience member turned on their phone flash lights, creating a wave of dazzling colour amid the pitch black evening.
Even the pouring rain during the concert could not stop the enthusiasm, as people simply put on their rain coat and continued enjoying the fun.
People who could not be admitted inside the venue due to it becoming too crowded still chose to stand outside to listen to the music.
Võ Bùi Thảo Vy, a young audience member, told Việt Nam News that she had been looking forward to the event after a September 2 concert was held last year in Hà Nội.
Being able to attend the concert live was a fun and emotional experience, something she could feel proud of.
Đặng Văn Thịnh and Trương Lê Gia Linh (in yellow raincoats) also waited months for the concert.
Thịnh shared with a huge smile on his face: “The atmosphere today is filled with the excitement of not just me, but thousands of people. It does not matter who you are or where you’re from – we are all Vietnamese.”
